My experience as a member of NSBE marked the beginning of my path to professionalism and academic success. By my senior year, I served as President of our chapter, eager to continue to create a warm, welcoming environment for other students.

Through my time with NSBE I’ve grown as a leader, student, and young professional. NSBE has awarded me with a diverse network as well as a broad skillset to take on life/the world after university.

This organization showed me that all parts of myself could coexist.  We are all black, mostly engineers and so completely different.  I could bring my whole-self to NSBE, and from there I gained the courage to bring my whole-self to Boston University’s College of Engineering.

I am so grateful for joining NSBE. NSBE is what I like to call “a well oiled machine”. It’s a club that’s serious about carrying out it’s mission statement and it is an inclusive group.  NSBE is one of the few clubs that has encouraged me to be unapologetically myself.

NSBE  gave me another family at BU, people who helped me and pushed me to complete my engineering degree successfully. NSBE also built my confidence, because I saw other people who looked like me graduating and getting great jobs in their fields, I knew that I could do that too and inspire others to do the same.

When I got involved with NSBE I found my family away from home.  It gave me the opportunity to be myself and to thrive, while being around people who have the similar goals and motivations. This organization is such an integral part of who I’ve become and continues to give me inspiration for who I want to be.
